Advanced Armor Systems: SDC is currently developing advanced nano-material formulations and integration processes that will significantly improve the performance of materials used in current ballistic protection systems and products. Efforts include nano-enhancement of ceramics, composites and adhesives as well as the incorporation of advanced backing systems - all of which adds up to significant improvements over existing technology. In addition to material characterization and mechanical testing, SDCmaterials uses ballistic testing to verify material performance. SDCmaterials' goal is to enable ballistic system performance well beyond that of current individual, vehicle and aircraft armor systems.
